A Wedding to Remember

Nikki Mitchell Foundation has always enjoyed having the River Dan golf team on the course at Jamey Johnson's Homecoming Benefit. This year, we had the opportunity to be a part of a very special day for River Dan and Arrie Ann. In the process of planning their wedding, they reached out inquiring if they could ask that in lieu of wedding gifts their guests donate to NMF. Of course we told them yes, and we are so honored to have been a part of their wedding story.

River Dan and I have both felt like we were part of the Nikki Mitchell Family even before we lost loved ones to pancreatic cancer. We started going to the concerts because we enjoyed Jamey’s music. It's funny how God puts you places you need to be. A few months after we attended our first Homecoming Concert, Dan’s mother, Cheryl Rogers, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was a fighter, she made it two more years. During that time we were able to take a vacation with his family to Atlantis in the Bahamas where endless precious memories were made. Fast forward to October 2017, my granny, Susie Gantt was diagnosed. She had seen many of her friends go through chemo and opted not to take treatment. Rhonda personally spent time with me on the phone offering moral support and access to the benefits NMF provides. My mom has instilled in me that giving to charity should be a priority in life so I have had the privilege to interact with many wonderful charities but I have to say this one makes it personal. They go above and beyond for the patient and their families. We love what this organization stands for and that is the reason we felt compelled to include it in our wedding. NMF is so grateful to River Dan, Arrie Ann, their families & wedding guests for showing their support through donations to the foundation. Their wedding raised nearly $15,000 to prevent, detect & cure pancreatic cancer.
